Havens Levitt, Home/Hospital Teacher

Havens Levitt, a home/hospital teacher, will retire later this month after 29 years with APS.

Ms. Levitt also is a Cultural Proficiency leader and a Safe Zone Advocate. She was a teacher at Del Norte and Highland high schools, a representative for the Albuquerque Teachers Federation for many years, and served on many committees and councils. She also sponsored the first LGBT support group at an APS high school and with the help of others moved the school board to offer domestic partner benefits to APS employees. She also successfully sued the NMHRA to ensure that the domestic partners of APS retirees would continue to receive health benefits.

A reception will be held for Ms. Levitt from 3-5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, in one of the Rio conference rooms.
