Paula Massey has received a Teacher Star Award for her work at Roosevelt Middle School. The monthly award is sponsored by the East Mountain, Edgewood and Moriarty chambers of commerce.

A sixth-grade humanities teacher, Massey was recently presented with the award in her classroom by members of the East Mountain chamber. She was nominated by the Roosevelt administration based on criteria including her communication with students, how she engages them in meaningful and cooperative learning activities and how she demonstrates her belief that all students can learn.

“Paula amazes me with her ability to connect with kids,” Roosevelt assistant principal Karen Marler said. “She goes above and beyond in the classroom to ensure every student has the opportunity to learn.”
