Madison Teacher Named Art Educator of the Year

Tammy Crespin was nominated by the NM Art Education Association.

Tammy Crespin, an art teacher at Madison Middle School, has been named Art Educator of the Year for New Mexico 2013.

Crespin is receiving the national award as the organization’s representative from New Mexico. The award will be presented to her at the National Art Education Association’s national convention in Ft. Worth, Texas, in March.

Crespin is a National Board Certified Teacher who serves on the NMAEA board of directors. She also won a 2012 Golden Apple Award from the Golden Apple Foundation of New Mexico as a top middle school teacher. Last spring, Crespin used a Horizon Grant from the APS Education Foundation to engage her art students in a service project that benefited the Roadrunner Food Bank.
