Jefferson Music Teacher to Receive Creative Bravos Award

Robb Janov and his Rock and Rhythm Band will be recognized at Creative Albuquerque's Gala Celebration on March 23.

Robb Janov, the music teacher at Jefferson Middle School who created the Rock and Rhythm Band,will receive a Creative Bravos Award honoring and recognizing achievements in creativity or innovation, entrepreneurship and community impact. The award will be presented in March by Creative Albuquerque, a "non-profit provider of cultural data and strategies with the purpose of affecting policy that results in a vibrant creative economy."

Janov will be honored for his innovative alternative to traditional school music programs. Janov believes that encouraging middle school students to find inspiring, productive channels for their energy is the key to igniting curiosity, building confidence and guiding them toward success and happiness in school and life.
