Dr. Tom Ryan Recognized in National Magazine as ‘Visionary’

Dr. Tom Ryan, APS chief information officer, was featured in the October edition of THE Journal (Technological Horizons in Education). In an article titled, “Dream On,” Ryan is identified as one of four educators in the nation whose work has earned them the title of visionary.  Ryan was singled out for his efforts to create an e-learning system for APS.

“We wanted a system that would be supplementary to (students) and offer online learning options that not only addressed the needs of our rural schools, where they might not have a highly qualified teacher or enough students to justify having the class, but also our urban schools, where they might have issues around overcrowding,” Ryan was quoted as saying.

The article talks about Ryan’s significant role in making online learning a reality not only in APS but throughout the state.
