Doris Merzweiler Named Teacher of Year Finalist

The adapted PE teacher for APS was recognized by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.

Doris Merzweiler, an adapted PE teacher for APS, was named a finalist for the 2013 National Teacher of the Year Award by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Merzweiler, who represents New Mexico, will travel to Charlotte, N.C., for the National Convention and Exposition in April, where the winner will be announced.

Merzweiler is an itinerant teacher serving students at five schools: Hawthorne ES, La Mesa ES, Whittier ESHayes MS and Wilson MS.
