Wanted: Students to Feature in the 2013-14 APS Calendar

We're now looking for classes and groups to feature in next year's school calendar. Interested? Check out the monthly themes and let us know if your class or group is a fit.

A science class at LBJ is featured this month in the APS calendar.

For more information or to let us know you're interested, contact Johanna King in the APS Communications Office at king_joh@aps.edu.

Do you want to be featured in the 2013-14 APS calendar? We’re now looking for classes and student groups to take pictures of for the wall calendar to be distributed to APS families and staff in August.

Once again, we’re partnering with Albuquerque the Magazine and Lovelace Health System to create the wall calendars at no cost to the district. This will be the fourth year Lovelace has sponsored the calendar, and the sixth year Albuquerque the Magazine has designed and printed it.

The theme for each month is listed below. If you’d like your class or group to be featured, please contact Johanna King in the APS Communications Office at king_joh@aps.edu or 880-3736 as soon as possible. We'll get back in touch to set up the photo shoot.

  • Heart Health, February:  We’re looking for a class that is creating valentines. We’d like to take this picture next week, Feb. 11-15, if possible.
  • Early Start, August: We’d like to feature a high school marching band during zero hour (we realize marching season is over, so we’re looking for a band that is willing to stage this for us).
  • A is for Art!, September: We’re looking for a high school art class that includes students whose artwork was auctioned during A is for Art!
  • Breast Cancer Awareness, October: We’re looking for a teacher who is a breast cancer survivor or a student group that hosts an activity supporting breast cancer survivors/research (for example, a group that’s knitting caps).
  • Fitness, January: We're looking for a PE class or fitness club.
  • Healthy Eating, March: We’d like to feature students preparing/tasting healthy meals.
  • Dads, June: We’d like to feature dads who are volunteering in classes, helping students with their school work.
  • Generations, July: We’d like to feature a family with multiple generations of members who attended the same APS school.

We already have classes designated for November, December, April and May.
