Retirement Board Retirement Application Process

Most applications are received in July.

The New Mexico Educational Retirement Board in its April newsletter provides a summary of the process for persons applying to retire.

Between March and August of any year, the ERB receives some 2,000 retirement applications. Each application must be verified to make sure that the retiree’s date of birth, social security number and years of service are correct. The retiree’s employer also is contacted to verify information.
