Field Trip Rules Updated

New rules outline requirements for paperwork, sponsors, chaperones and more.

The district's guidelines for field trips and off-campus activities have been updated. Some of the new requirements:

  • A new field/activity trip approval form that must be submitted by a trip sponsor prior to any trip taking place.
  • Trip sponsors, regardless of destination, are required to be a certified teacher, certified instructor or licensed coach that is currently employed by APS. No other district staff may be trip sponsors unless they fall into one of the categories listed above.
  • All chaperones must be 21 years of age or older unless they are a licensed teacher, instructor or licensed coach.
  • All trips must be justified with a statement about how it will compliment curriculum.
  • All trips outside of APS district boundaries are required to be submitted to the associate superintendent for approval.
