Dr. Winter Invites Employees to Choice Fair

"All of us who have worked in schools know that students learn differently, and while the traditional neighborhood school that so many of us attended provides a fine education for most, it isn’t the right fit for all."

Dear Colleagues,

By now you’ve probably heard we’re hosting a School Choice Fair. This is the first time Albuquerque Public Schools has sponsored an event like this, and I’d like to personally invite you to swing by after work on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 4-7 p.m. at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

All of us who have worked in schools know that students learn differently, and while the traditional neighborhood school that so many of us attended provides a fine education for most, it isn’t the right fit for all.

What a lot of people don’t realize is that we do have options in APS. Lots of them.

Before you head to the fair, check out our website where we’ve posted information about our Schools of Choice including two new middle school programs at Hayes and Garfield that will focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math and dual language.

Thanks to the city of Albuquerque, we’ll have lots of space at the Convention Center where you can talk to principals, teachers and students, and to see what we have to offer. Parking is free and concessions will be available. And we’re opening the transfer window early, so if you see something you like, you can help that child in your life submit an application in January.
