APS Taking Applications for Grant Writer

— filed under:

Position will help APS find money for programs and projects that the district can no longer afford.

May 24, 2012

In these tough economic times, public school districts across the nation including APS are vying for the financial support of businesses, non-profits and others to help pay for programs and projects they can no longer afford.

Competition for these dollars is tough, so Albuquerque Public Schools has revitalized a currently vacant grant-writing position and is now taking applications. The grant writer will research, apply for and manage grants that support the district's mission of improving student achievement. The grant writer also will be accountable for and have oversight over all grants.

Strong communication skills are required including the ability to write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive proposals.

The grant writer will be supervised by the chief of staff and will work in cooperation with Grant Mangement, Human Resources, Finance, the district's policy analyst and various agencies to assure that grants meet district needs.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in education, English or professional writing and six years’ experience in grant writing and monitoring for a non-profit organization.

For more information or to apply for the position, visit the APS jobs webpage.
