Apply now for APS Apple Vanguard Team

Application deadline is Sept. 30.

Are you an innovator who sees tech as a way to create access and equity for students? Do you see tech as a way to redefine learning experiences for students? Or do you know someone who fits this description? Then the APS Apple Vanguard Team is for you!

We are now taking applications for the 2017-2018 cohort! Come join 130+ APS teachers, administrators, and support personnel who make up this like minded group of individuals. This 7-day training spread out from October-May will help develop your knowledge of the Apple Ecosystem in order to meet 21st Century Learning Needs!

What is APS Apple Vanguard?

The APS Apple Vanguard is made up of like-minded APS teachers, leaders, and support personnel who are dedicated to the promotion of integrating technology into the classroom. The cohort allows for participants to deepen their knowledge around the Apple OS X and iOS operating systems and Apple creativity and productivity Apps. The goal is that each participant will go forward as a model and a resource for not only their campus or department but also for the entire district.

It is essential that applicants have the approval of their campus principal or supervisor before attending as it requires several days off campus during school hours to meet the program requirements. Substitutes are NOT provided and must be provided and paid for by individual campuses for those participants who require classroom coverage.

Each member of this cohort will commit to at least 24 hours but up to 48 hours of training in either the OS X or iOS operating systems plus a combination of any of these apps: Pages, Keynote, Numbers, iPhoto, iMovie, Garageband, iBooks Author, and iTunes U Course Manager.

Some courses are available exclusively on a Mac or an iPad. There are plenty of courses for you to participate successfully if you use a PC laptop and iPad tablet so do not let that discourage you from participating.  If you are a PC user and do not have access to a Mac, you can substitute the required OS X course with iTunesU Course Builder.

The tentative schedule is as follows:

  • October 24 or 26
  • November 14 or 16
  • December 5 or 7
  • January 23 or 25
  • February 13 or 15
  • March 20 or 22
  • May 8 or 10
