District Spelling Bee Set for Saturday, Jan. 24

The competition will be held at Sandia High School in the performing arts center.

The 2015 APS District Spelling Bee has been scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 24, at 9:30 a.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Sandia High School. The spellers need to check in between 8:30-8:45 a.m.

The competition will include a vocabulary component again this year.

All of the spelling and vocabulary words are drawn from 2015 School Spelling Bee Study List and 2015 Spell It! Both of the lists are posted at spellingbee.com and at myspellit.com.

Each school may send two spellers who competed in their school-wide spelling bee. Each school should select two alternatives as well. Names should be send to Holly Newman, the APS district Spelling Bee coordinator, at newman_h@aps.edu. Newman's phone number is 294-1511, ex. 30139.

Students must be at least eight years old toe participate.

A donation of $15 from each school is request to help defray expenses. Make payments to SHS-District Spelling Bee and send it via inner-school mail to Sandia High School bookkeeper Julie Wilt.
