American Red Cross Looking for Heroes

Nominations are now open for the organization's annual Real Heroes in Albuquerque awards.

Nominations are now being accepted for the American Red Cross Real Heroes Awards.

The Red Cross Real Heroes Awards was created to honor ordinary individuals from Albuquerque who exemplify the spirit of heroism and humanitarianism at a distinguished level and are dedicated to saving or improving the lives of others. All of these heroic acts reflect the humanitarian values of the American Red Cross.

The Red Cross is inviting people and groups to nominate their local heroes. Nominees must be a resident of, employed or stationed in Albuquerque. The heroic act must have occurred during the calendar year 2014 and taken place throughout New Mexico or out-of-state if it involved a New Mexico resident on vacation.

Some of the suggested categories include:

  • Education
  • Youth
  • Humanitarian
  • Good Samaritan
  • Emergency Medica
  • Firefighter
  • Law Enforcement
  • Disaster Relief
  • Military
  • Animal Rescue
  • Workplace
  • Water Safety.
