Autism Specific Programs - Social Communication
Special Education Department District programs are designed for students who have not exhibited success in a more inclusive setting.
IMPORTANT NOTE: placement in any special education district program listed below must be determined by your child’s IEP team. Please contact the Instructional Manager for the program if you have additional questions about placement or about a specific program.
Social Communication Programs are for our students who exhibit academic ability but are still profoundly impacted by their Autism eligibility. Instructional emphasis is placed on acquisition of skills in the following areas:
- communication
- independence in daily living
- direct instruction in social skills and behavior
- life skills prevocational/vocational skills
- academics that are appropriate for each student’s identified abilities
