Elementary Bell Schedules

The 2011-2012 elementary bell schedules.

Schools Keeping Original Schedules

A number of schools chose not not to consider bell schedule changes or eliminate early release on Wednesdays. Those schools include:

  • A. Montoya
  • Alameda
  • Chaparral
  • Corrales
  • Desert Willow Family School
  • Kirtland
  • MacArthur
  • Manzano Mesa
  • Mark Twain
  • Montezuma
  • Mountain View
  • Pajarito
  • Petroglyph
  • San Antonito
  • Valle Vista

The reasons these schools didn't make a change to their schedule include:

  • They had unique programs that required them to keep their current schedule
  • Their bus routes did not allow for a schedule change

There are 22 elementary schools that changed their bell schedules for the 2011-2012 school year.

Schools on this schedule will now begin between 7:45 and 7:55 a.m. and end between 1:45 and 2 p.m.

They will not have early-release Wednesdays.

Why did schools make this change?

Seventy-three Albuquerque Public Schools elementary schools asked their staff and parents to consider changing their start and end times for the 2011-12 school year. The staff and parents voted (by a 2/3 majority) to make the change for a number of reasons, including:

  • A desire to eliminate early dismissal on Wednesdays
  • They thought a different schedule would be more efficient for them
  • It would help them align their drop-off and pick-up times with their middle schools

The decision to consider a schedule change was a voluntary one made by the schools and their Instructional Councils.
