Driver Safety
The procedural directive District-Owned Vehicles requires operators of APS vehicles to have drivers' permits issued by the Risk Management department. Permit issuance requires a valid New Mexico driver's license, necessary endorsements for the type of APS vehicle driven and successful completion of defensive drivers training.
Defensive drivers training is currently available for all drivers of APS vehicles; the training can be found on the Training page, or by going to the presentation:
- Defensive Drivers Training (and then taking the Defensive Drivers Quiz)
Upon completion of the training, drivers will be issued a permit with their photograph that will be valid for two (2) years. Permits are available from the Risk Management department.
