APS Board Member Selected for Leadership Program
Dolores Griego will participate in unique training by government organizations
March 11, 2010
Albuquerque Public Schools Board Secretary Dolores Griego has been selected to participate in the 2010 Local Government Leadership Program by the New Mexico Association of Counties, the New Mexico Municipal League, New Mexico School Boards Association and Leadership New Mexico.
The program is designed to improve the leadership skills of government officials and encourage community concern and participation. Program participants learn about critical issues facing New Mexico involving a wide range of subjects such as education, economic development and crime and justice.
“Programs like this are designed to raise and enhance the leadership qualities of public servants,” Griego said. “Servant-leaders can always polish their skills, and this training will afford me that opportunity.”
The training program requires attendance at two-and-a-half-day sessions in Santa Fe later this month and in May in Albuquerque.
Griego has served on the APS school board since 2007 representing District 1, which covers the Southwest Mesa, South Valley on both sides of the Rio Grande and part of the Kirtland Air Force Base area.
Every child has a right to a quality public education and APS is committed to providing that education. For more information about Albuquerque Public Schools, visit www.aps.edu.
