SY Jackson Student Receives National PTA Arts Award

Bailee Baca honored for music composition.

Bailee Baca, a fifth grader at S.Y. Jackson Elementary, has been honored by the National PTA for achievement in the 2014-15 Reflections arts program.

Baca’s work, titled “Civiliti” was recognized with the Award of Excellence in the Music Compositions category, intermediate division. The award honors imagination, creativity and interpretation of this year’s theme, “The World Would Be a Better Place If…”

Baca, who is a pianist, and the other national winners will be honored at the National PTA Convention, June 25-28, in Charlotte, NC.

The PTA’s Reflections program encourages students to be involved in the arts. Through the program, students from across the county create and submit original works of arts in dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts.
