The Albuquerque Isotopes will be collecting school supplies for students in need during their homestand Aug. 1-5.

The Albuquerque Isotopes are partnering with Summit Electric Supply and the Albuquerque Public Schools Community Clothing Bank to collect school supplies for students in need during the first week of August.

Drop off boxes will be located at the entrance of Isotopes Park during the games against Round Rock Aug. 1-3 and New Orleans Aug. 4-5. Games on Wednesday through Saturday begin at 6:35 p.m. Sunday’s game starts at 6:05 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the box office or by going to

School supplies also may be dropped off at the Isotopes Administration Office, 1601 Avenida Cesar Chavez SE, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and at Summit Electric Supply, 2900 Stanford NE, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Aug. 1-4.

The APS Community Clothing Bank, which operates a School Supply Barn, will pick up the supplies and distribute them to students and classrooms in need during the first days of the 2018-19 school year that begins Aug. 13.

The School Supply Barn, which operates entirely through donations from the community, reaches out to parents, teachers, counselors and social workers to determine who needs supplies at the beginning and throughout the school year. Thousands of students are served each year.

“For so many of our families on a tight budget, back-to-school costs can be overwhelming, which is why we are so grateful to the Isotopes and Summit Electric Supply for hosting a school supply drive,” said APS Superintendent Raquel Reedy. “We can’t say thanks enough to the Isotopes fans and others who are willing to spend their own time and money to pick up and donate supplies to our neediest students.”
