For the 5th Time, APS Budget Wins Prestigious Award

The award by the Association of School Business Officials International commended the school district for achieving the highest standards of school budgeting.

Albuquerque Public Schools once again earned the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for excellence in budget presentation by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO). The award is conferred only to school entities that have met or exceeded the Meritorious Budget Award criteria.

To earn this award, the APS Budget Department submitted its 2013–2014 budget for a rigorous review based on stringent criteria.

APS has one this award five times, for the budgets in fiscal years 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013 and now 2014.

“This award is a reflection of our outstanding and dedicated budget staff," said APS Chief Financial Officer Don Moya. “I congratulate them on all of their hard work and thank them for all they do for Albuquerque Public Schools.”

"The award represents a significant achievement by Albuquerque Public Schools," said John Musso, executive director of ASBO. "It reflects the commitment by the budget staff and the school district to achieve the highest standards of school budgeting."

Developed by ASBO for school districts, the MBA criteria guide school business officials toward a quality school budget presentation by enhancing the school business officials’ skills in developing, analyzing, and presenting a school system budget.
