Mitchell Elementary will open up a time capsule from 2003 during its 50th anniversary celebration on Tuesday, April 16.

In addition, the school will feature a timeline depicting events that have occurred during the school's half a century history. Each grade level was assigned a decade to research and represent.

Principal Debbie Garrison is extending an invitation to current and past students, teachers and parents to attend the celebration that begins at 1:30 p.m.

Garrison, who has been at Mitchell since 1994, credits the school's success to its dedicated, stable staff. She also credits Mitchell's active students and parents who sponsor several events each year including a fall festival, food drives, clothing drives, book fairs, math and science nights and more.
