Looking for a Job? Be a Sub!

We’re looking to fill hundreds of positions that are flexible and great opportunities.

Are you job hunting?  Want a job that is flexible and gets you connected with students?  Apply to be a substitute teacher for Albuquerque Public Schools.  The district is looking to fill a few hundred positions that are critical to support our schools.

“The teaching profession is one of the rare careers where you actually have to have a substitute when you are out sick,” said Patti Nabors, APS Director of Human Resource Operations.  “They play a critical role in our schools to ensure that learning continues and that students have someone who cares in the classroom.”

Substitute teachers must have a minimum of 60 college credit hours to be hired and a list of good references that know how they will be around students.  APS walks applicants through the state substitute licensure process, which is a requirement.

“It’s an opportunity for our best and brightest community members to contribute to our students’ educational paths,” added Nabors.  “We are especially looking for substitutes who like to work with our Special Needs students, or those who have an expertise in science or math.”

Apply to be a substitute.
