Inez Launches Family Fitness Challenge

The school is hosting family fitness nights and encouraging kids & families to move 30 minutes a day.

Inez Elementary is challenging student and their families to move at least 150 minutes a week to meet the CDC and AHA guideline.

The challenge will begin Oct. 3 with a circuit training Family Fitness Night hosted by PE teacher Michael Anderson. It will run through Nov. 7. Anderson was recently named Pepsi Teacher of the Month for September.

Family fitness nights will continue two to three times a week throughout the month of October. Classes will be taught by community members and feature a variety of activities including yoga, UFC, belly dancing and core exercises.

Inez will also give families a calendar with suggestions for ways to move 30 minutes each day to help them meet the recommended health guidelines. 

The goal is bring awareness to our community about how important and fun it is to move, but not only for health reasons but, for brain function and stress management.

The challenge is coordinated by APS Family and Community Engagement’s School Health division.
