Hot Air Balloons to Lift-off from 55 APS Playgrounds Friday

Elementary schools from across the district will participate in the annual Albuquerque Aloft, kicking off the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.

Hot air balloons will launch from the playgrounds of 55 Albuquerque Public Schools on Friday, Oct. 4, for the annual Albuquerque Aloft, the first flying event of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.

Parents, students and teachers alike have the opportunity to meet the pilots and crew and experience the excitement of watching and learning how a hot air balloon flies.Albuquerque Aloft is the only Balloon Fiesta flying event that launches outside of Balloon Fiesta Park.

Balloons typically begin inflating around 7 a.m. with launch time around 30 minutes later, weather permitting.
