Four APS School Groups Vying for $15,000 Gift of Music Prize

Vote for your favorite by Jan. 11.

Two APS high school and two middle school instrumental groups are looking for help from music lovers as they compete in the Gift of Music video conference. The public is invited to watch their videos and vote for their favorite by Friday, Jan. 11. 

The nationwide contest, sponsored by Rack Room Shoes, required school bands, orchestras and choirs to record themselves performing one of five holiday songs and submit the video. APS participants are 

  • Taft Middle School Jazz Band, directed by Dr. Rod Daniel 
  • Taylor Middle School 9th Harmony Project, directed by Maria Stefanova-Mar 
  • La Cueva High School Orchestra, directed by Christine Kreitinger 
  • The Highland High School Hornet Band and the Holidays, directed by Josephine Gonzales 

The group receiving the most votes wins a $15,000 music grant for its school. Voting is done through the Gift of Music website.
