Four APS High Schools Rank Among Nation's Best

Newsweek lists La Cueva, Eldorado, Sandia and the Early College Academy among the best public high schools in the country.

Four APS high schools have been ranked among the top public high schools in the nation by Newsweek. The four are La Cueva, Eldorado, Sandia and Early College Academy.

There were nine New Mexico high schools that Newsweek ranked among the best 2,000 public high schools in the nation in turning out college-ready grads.

Newsweek based its ranking on six components:

  • Graduation rate (25 percent)
  • College acceptance rate (25 percent)
  • AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent)
  • Average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent)
  • Average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent)
  • Percent of students enrolled in at least one AP/IB/AICE course (5 percent).
