Five APS Students Advance to State Spelling Bee

District champions head to state competition in March.

On January 25, students from across Albuquerque competed in the district spelling bee and for a chance to compete in the New Mexico State Spelling Bee. Five students will represent APS at Sandia Prep on March 22 in the state competition.

Students and their parents and teachers should be congratulated for their hard work and success.

The first-place winner was Sinduja Sivakomar, an eighth grader at Desert Ridge MS. Other state qualifiers include:

  • Adeeb Khan, a fourth grader at Georgia O’Keeffe ES
  • Vivien McCullough, a sixth grader at Cleveland MS
  • Milidu Jayaweera, a fourth grader at Georgia O’Keeffe
  • Maximillian Connors, an eighth grader at Tony Hillerman MS

Good luck to all our students!
