Eubank Singers, Dancers & Musicians Featured at School Art Preview

The State Fair exhibit featuring student artwork from across the state continues through Sept. 20.

Students at Eubank Academy, an APS fine arts magnet school, provided the entertainment at the third annual School Art Preview Night at Expo New Mexico on Sept. 9.

The exhibit featuring elementary and secondary student artwork from districts across the state will be featured during the New Mexico State Fair at the fairgrounds in the School Arts Building (on the same street as the Hispanic and Native American villages).

“Birds of a Feather Flock Together” was the theme of Eubank's performance. The vision at Eubank Academy is to instill an artist’s approach by using arts integration as a springboard to engage student learning. Fourth and fifth grade students exhibited their creativity through interpretative dance. They were adorned with student created bird masks moving to the beat of African drums.

In addition, students presented many more “eggstraordinary” talents weaved into the interdisciplinary approach. The staff at Eubank is committed to using research-based strategies to make a difference with all students using an independent and collaborative approach to learning.

The performance was facilitated by the Fine Arts team at Eubank to include Juliana Hagel (art teacher), Candace O’Hearn (drama teacher), and Christine Strickland (music teacher).
