Communications Team Nationally Recognized

National School Public Relations Association honors team for calendar and videos.

The APS Communications team has been nationally recognized by the National School Public Relations Association. The district has been honored for the 2015-16 Calendar, which received an Award of Excellence. The district received recognitions for three videos including Award of Merit for Johnathan’s Journey and Custodian to Principal, and an Honorable Mention for Thank you Educational Assistants.

“I’m extremely proud of the work that we continue to do for the students of Albuquerque,” said APS Executive Director of Communications Monica Armenta. “The calendar is the only single document that each and every student and family receives. It’s an impressive production and to be honored is gratifying.”

The production of the calendar is made possible through a partnership with Albuquerque the Magazine

Nearly a thousand entries were submitted from across the country for the National School Public Relations Awards with only about a third receiving Award of Excellence, Merit or Honorable Mention.

“We have moved to telling the story of our students, teachers, and schools through video production,” Armenta added. “We have seen a tremendous response from across the district with our videos and we will continue to use them as an avenue of telling the good things in APS.”
