Class of 2016 to Graduate Week of May 9

The 13 comprehensive high schools will hold their commencements at Tingley Coliseum; ceremonies for the schools of choice will be at the National Hispanic Cultural Center.

Mark your calendar. Graduation ceremonies for the Albuquerque Public Schools Class of 2016 have been set for the week of May 9.

All comprehensive high schools will hold their graduation ceremonies again at Tingley Coliseum. The Schools of Choice will graduate at the National Hispanic Cultural Center.

College & Career High School, the dual-credit high school located on the CNM campus, will graduate with CNM at noon Saturday, April 30, at Tingley Coliseum.

Rio Grande will kick off the comprehensive high school graduations at 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 9. The Albuquerque High Bulldogs will be the final Class of 2016 to get their diplomas at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 14.

The 2016 graduation schedule for comprehensive APS high schools is as follows:

  • Monday, May 9: Rio Grande, 2:30 p.m.; Manzano, 6:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 10: Atrisco Heritage Academy, 2:30 p.m.; Eldorado, 6:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 11: La Cueva, 2:30 p.m.; Volcano Vista, 6:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 12: West Mesa, 2:30 p.m.; Cibola, 6:30 p.m.
  • Friday, May 13: Valley, 2:30 p.m.; Highland, 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 14: Sandia, 10:30 a.m; Del Norte, 2:30 p.m.; Albuquerque High, 6:30 p.m.

The 2016 graduation schedule for APS Schools of Choice (alternative schools) is as follows:

  • Monday, May 9: eCademy, 10:30 a.m.; nex+Gen Academy, 1:30 p.m.; Transition Services, 4:30 p.m.; School on Wheels, 7:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 10: New Futures, 1:30 p.m.; Freedom High, 4:30 p.m.; Early College Academy, 7:30 p.m.

Graduates of the Career Enrichment Center nursing program will participate in a pinning ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, at the UNM Continuing Education Conference Center.

 The Black Student Union Rite of Passage Ceremony will be held Sunday, May 8, at 6 p.m. at the Sheryl Williams Stapleton Performing Arts Center at Expo New Mexico.
