Hot air balloons will take flight from the playgrounds of 58 APS schools on Friday for the annual Albuquerque Aloft, the first flying event of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.

For the 25th year, students, parents and teachers will have the opportunity to meet the pilots and crew, learn about ballooning and experience the excitement of watching balloons take flight. Albuquerque Aloft kicks off the Fiesta, giving the community a unique view, as it is the only event in which balloons launch in pre-determined sites outside of Balloon Fiesta Park.

Balloonists will inflate from approximately 6:45-7 a.m. and will launch by 7:30 a.m., weather permitting.
