Stephen Maresca has been named principal at Albuquerque Public Schools Arroyo del Oso Elementary School.

“Mr. Maresca has a wealth of administrative and instructional experience that should serve him well in his new position,” said APS Superintendent Winston Brooks.

Maresca, who was previously principal at APS’ Matheson Park Elementary, holds a master’s degree in educational administration from Western New Mexico University.

He had served as principal at Matheson Park since fall of 2007. Maresca replaces Joyce Newman, who retired.

Maresca started with APS at La Luz Elementary in January 2007 as a teacher. He has more than 17 years experience as a teacher both at the elementary and middle school level.
