One hundred and twenty Albuquerque Public Schools seniors who took summer school classes to make up credits will graduate at 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 28, at the Roy E. Disney Performing Arts Center at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, 1701 4th St. SW (map).

“I commend these students who stuck with it and achieved their goal of earning a high school diploma. This is quite an accomplishment, and I congratulate the graduates and their families,” said APS Superintendent Winston Brooks.

The graduates, including another 20 who earned their diplomas but won’t participate in Wednesday’s commencement ceremony, represent 12 APS traditional high schools and three alternative high schools. Joe L. Valles, an Albuquerque dentist and advocate for students at risk, will be the keynote speaker for the event.

Students completed high school graduation requirements by taking summer school courses through the APS Center of Extended Learning.
