APS Needs Math, Bilingual, Special Ed and Substitute Teachers

Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply online.

June 29, 2012

Albuquerque Public Schools is hiring math, special education and bilingual teachers as well as substitute teachers and education assistants for the 2012-2013 school year.

As of late June, the district had nearly 100 openings for special education teachers at all levels. APS also has about two dozen openings for elementary bilingual, dual language and/or English-as-a-Second-Language teachers. APS serves about 12,000 students in more than 40 elementary schools with bilingual education programs.

In addition, the district has openings for about 20 middle and high school math teachers. Beginning with the class of 2013, all high school students are required to complete four years of math for graduation (compared with three years for previous graduating classes). As a result, more high school math teachers are needed. There also are several openings for math teachers at middle schools due to turnover.
