Keeping the Music Playing

APS has been recognized as one of the best communities in the nation for music education.

Albuquerque Public Schools has been honored by the National Association of Music Merchants as one the 2016 Best Communities for Music Education. Each year the organization recognizes school districts that are providing stellar music programs.

The APS Fine Arts Department provides direct instruction in music and visual arts to elementary school students, and works with community groups to coordinate annual district-wide events including New Mexico Symphony Orchestra concerts, Santa Fe Opera performances and the UNM Music Prep School.

In addition there are band, chorus and orchestra classes in all 28 middle schools and 13 comprehensive high schools.

This award is a tribute to the work that our fine arts educators do each and every day.
