APS Gives School Supplies to 1,850 Students

Volunteers including UNM student athletes handed out the supplies to kids in need.

Albuquerque Public Schools held its annual school supplies distribution to help families in need on Saturday, July 19, at UNM Stadium.

Once again, APS worked with UNM Athletics in arranging the event. Service learning classes at UNM helped prepare for the distribution and were on hand to pass out 1,850 supply kits to students. Because of the great need, the kits went quickly. Students also got a chance to meet and get autographs from the athletes who are part of the service learning classes.

Families whose children attend APS Title I schools received special invitations to the event.
