APS Board to Take Final Action on 2014-15 Alternative Calendar

The board is expected to vote on the calendar for schools with an alternative schedule at its meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 15.

The Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education Policy Committee approved the alternative calendar for the 2014-15 school year. The APS Board of Education is expected to give final approval to the calendar at its regular meeting on Jan. 15.

Schools on the alternative calendar are Mary Ann Binford, Susie Rayos Marmon, Cochiti, Oñate, Mark Twain, Navajo, Duranes and Eugene Field elementary schools.

The first day of school for students attending these schools in 2014-15 will be Wednesday, July 23. Like the students on the traditional calendar, those on the alternative calendar will end the first semester on Friday, Dec. 19, and return from winter break on Monday, Jan. 5. Their last day of school is also Friday, May 22, with make-up days set for May 26-29, if needed.

Oct. 9-10, Fall Break

Oct. 22 to Nov. 4, Intersession, no classes

Nov. 11, Veterans Day Holiday

Nov. 26-28, Thanksgiving Holidays

Dec. 22- Jan. 2, Winter Break

Jan. 19, Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

Feb. 16, Presidents’ Day

March 23-27, Intersession, no classes

March 30 – April 3, Spring Break

May 25, Memorial Day.
