‘The Voice’ Winner to Sing at Eldorado High March 3

Danielle Bradbery’s visit is part of a national Music in Our Schools tour.

Country singer and 2013 winner of reality TV’s “The Voice” Danielle Bradbery will make a stop at Albuquerque Public Schools Eldorado High School on Monday, March 3, as part of the Music in Our Schools national bus tour.

One of five stops on the national tour to celebrate March as National Music in Our Schools month, Bradbery will perform at a student assembly beginning at 10 a.m. at Eldorado.

Eldorado was selected for the tour stop by the National Association for Music Education’s (NAfME) Give a Note Foundation in part for the achievements of the school’s music program.

“We worked with the state music education association to identify a school where music education is an important part of each student’s school day,” said Jane Balek of NAfME and the Give a Note Foundation.

“Studying and making music, whether it’s playing an instrument or singing or composing, is one of the most valuable ways kids can spend their time,” Balek added.

As part of the recognition, Eldorado’s music program will receive a check for $1,000 from the Give a Note Foundation.

Eldorado Principal Martin Sandoval said that the event provides the school with a chance to show off its band, orchestra and chorus programs and be recognized nationally for the vital role music education plays at the school. “We are honored to have the Eldorado jazz band open this event for this national performer,” Sandoval said.

The tour also will make stops at schools in Houston, Oklahoma City, Nashville and Charlotte, N.C., before wrapping up March 8 at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

In addition to the Give a Note Foundation, the tour is sponsored by Disney Performing Arts and Big Machine Label Group.
