16 APS Schools to Play in State Basketball Tournament

We wish the best of luck to all of our teams during the tournament that kicks off Friday at schools around the state, then moves to the Pit and the Santa Ana Star Center next week.

Sixteen APS high schools are competing in the the state basketball tournament that kicks off this week.

Six girls teams -- Valley, La Cueva, Cibola, Volcano Vista, Sandia and Eldorado -- will play games in Albuquerque on Friday.

Ten boys teams -- Eldorado, Cibola, Albuquerque High, Valley, Manzano, West Mesa, La Cueva, Atrisco Heritage, Volcano Vista and Sandia -- will play on Saturday. Volcano Vista will travel to Hobbs and West Mesa will go to Clovis. All other APS boys teams are playing their first-round games in Albuquerque.

The rest of the girls games will be at the Santa Ana Start Center beginning Tuesday, March 12.

The rest of the boys games will be at the Pit beginning Wednesday, March 13.

The state championship game for the girls is at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 16. The boys state championship game is at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 16.
