BCCPTA Clothing Bank Moving

Organization’s new facility to open Jan. 13

January 4, 2009

The Bernalillo County Council of the PTA (BCCPTA) Clothing Bank is closed this week while the organization moves to a new location provided by Albuquerque Public Schools. It will re-open at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 1730 University Blvd. SE, just south of University of New Mexico Stadium.

The Clothing Bank is sponsored by the Bernalillo County Councils of PTAs and is not an APS program. However, APS provides the facility to house it. It had been located at McKinley Middle School since October 2007. The new location will share a facility with APS’ ACCESS/CTAP school.

APS staff or volunteers may bring children to the Clothing Bank when it re-opens. It serves about 3,000 students per year, according to the organization’s website.

Regular hours for the Clothing Bank are 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Tuesday-Friday. It is closed when APS is closed or on a weather-related delay.

The Clothing Bank is still taking donations at Liberty Tax Service, 3118 San Mateo NE. Financial donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 92675, Albuquerque, NM 87199.

Every child has a right to a quality public education and APS is committed to providing that education. For more information about Albuquerque Public Schools, visit www.aps.edu.
