Worker Productivity Improvement
M&O has enforced better accountability of technician productivity through closer monitoring and scrutinizing of work orders. Supervisors study the indicated time to accomplish a task, and works with the technician if duration is unreasonable. Department managers and supervisors are also reviewing work orders in areas of productivity that can be improved upon to stretch taxpayer dollars. This more formalized review of work orders provides transparency to the public, identifies areas where work can be completed more efficiently, as well as justifies the time required to adequately perform needed work.
The chart below illustrates the annually decreasing average tracking time of a work order from date of submittal to job completion and payment of invoices from 2007 to 2010, a 69% improvement in four years.
