Textbooks

For questions about ordering instructional materials, contact Rachel Altobelli at rachel.altobelli@aps.edu or (505) 848-8888.

Library Services supports school bookrooms and textbook rooms on both an ongoing and specifically scheduled basis. Ongoing support is provided through regularly scheduled trainings and centralized management of our Online Catalog (Destiny), the database used district-wide to track and inventory instructional materials.

To help maintain an accurate inventory of instructional materials, Library Services partners with the RDA testing warehouse to barcode district-ordered textbooks and distribute them to the schools ready for use and circulation.

Textbook Adoption

The district has detailed procedures for textbook adoption in the schools:

Fines and Fees

If you have questions about fines and fees for lost or damaged textbooks, read the district's procedural directive for fees, fines, and charges:

Bookroom and Textbook Room Help

Library Services also supports textbook and bookroom clerks through training sessions and one-on-one sit visits. Textbook and bookroom materials are managed through our Destiny Online Catalog, and district-purchased instructional materials are barcoded centrally by Library Services to help schools with the inventory process.

Barcoding

If your bookroom or textbook room needs additional help with barcoding an un-barcoded collection, transferring your records from Athena (our former textbook management system), training new personnel, or other large projects, contact Anna Apple (apple@aps.edu ; 848-8896).

Removing Materials

If you have questions about removing outdated (post-adoption) instructional materials from your school, contact Beverley Breitling’s office (878-6118 ; leathem@aps.edu) in procurement for instructions and forms.
