Eubank Elementary School Library Awarded Grant
The Eubank Library has received a $4000 Horizon Grant to implement One Book, One School at Eubank.
April 18, 2012
One Book, One School is a school-wide reading program designed to create a shared reading experience within an entire school community while supporting families in developing a literacy tradition. A single, common book is selected and provided to every family in the school community. Every family reads the same book aloud at home over the course of a month. School-wide activities and resources are coordinated for families, students and classes to promote and enrich this unique reading experience. Through this program reading at home is enabled and sustained as students participate in an increased rich-language environment, and families are supported through a shared community event.
Eubank's library did this in March of this year with the purchase of a brand new copy of Dr. Seuss's The Lorax for every family and staff member. The grant will allow for the continuation of school-wide book clubs at Eubank.
Horizon Grants are a project of the APS Education Foundation.
