Special Recognition

All APS students participating in the Indian Education Program can receive special recognition which may include: t-shirts, backpacks, zoo passes, etc. Any APS employee can nominate a student. Recognition given in May of each year.

APS employees are encouraged to Nominate Native American students to receive special recognition each year.  Nominations can be e-mailed to Elizabeth Trujillo at Trujillo_eli@aps.edu, faxed to (505) 872-8849, or mailed to the department.  Nominations must be received by April 15th each year for students to be recognized.  Here are the categories:

  1. ROTC
  2. Leadership (e.g. Student Council, Senate)
  3. Most Improved
  4. Citizenship
  5. Community Service
  6. The Arts (Band, Music, Fine Arts)
  7. Sports (APS District Athletic Director)
  8. Academics: GPA 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 (Synergy)
  9. Perfect Attendance (0 absence)
  10. Good Attendance (1-5 days of excused absence) (Synergy)
  11. Other categories: you or your staff may submit a category that is specific to your school and deserving of student recognition
