Native American Bilingual Seal and The Distinguished Seal for Service Learning

APS Native American Graduating Seniors who want to apply to earn a Stole and Seal from the Indian Education Department for Native American Bilingual Seal and/or The Distinguished Seal for Service Learning. Students who earn a stole will receive them at the Indian Education Department Graduation Banquet on April 28, 2015 and can wear the Stole to their High School Graduation Ceremony on top of their graduation gowns.

Students can pick up an application at the Indian Education Department located at 6400 Uptown Blvd. NE Suite 460 West. Alb. NM 87110, M-Th. 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM and Friday 8:00-4:00 PM. Application attached

Application Due date is Monday April 6, 2015. Completed applications are to be turned in to Shannon Romero at the Indian Education Department. Students are required to sign up for a time to present their work to audience of judges from the community and must be on track to graduate in May 2015

Requirements and Eligibility:

*Eligible Native American Students who have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher,  have good attendance (less then 5 days unexcused absences) at the time of application, and be on track t graduate in May 2015.

*Eligibility to earn The Native American Bilingual Seal: an eligible student is one who has successfully completed 2 years of Navajo Language coursework. The student will present language knowledge to an audience of judges from the community on April 15th at West Mesa HS Kiva Auditorium.

*Eligibility to earn The Distinguished Seal for Service Learning: An eligible student is one who has completed one of the following activities during their senior year that include;

            *30 or more hours of community service.

            * Complete a research paper about Native American History

            * or, Presents a Tribal Demonstration

The service learning project will include a presentation to an audience of judges from the community on the April 14-15, 2015 at Highland HS Performing Arts Center.
