The chief role of a mentor is offering support and practical advice to beginning teachers based on observation and discussion of the beginning teacher’s professional experiences.

Mentor Benefits

  • Mentors will remain in full or part-time positions as classroom teachers.
  • Mentors will be assigned first year teachers at their school site.
  • Salary differentials of $2000 per year are included in the Negotiated Agreement.
  • Mentors receive monthly professional development.
  • Professional leave time.
