Advancement From Level 1 to Level 2

  • Submit an Intent to Advance Form to APS Human Resources. An HR staffer will review and notify you by email of eligibility and pathway for advancement.

Special Circumstances: If you have not taught during part or all of the years of your Level 1 license you may request an extension. Request to Extend License Unused During Part or All of the Term of the License

Advancement From Level 1 to Level 2 with DOSSIER

Requirements:

  1. Three school years teaching experience at Level 1 by June of current school year.
  2. Three successful annual evaluations at current licensure level including most recent evaluation. Successful evaluation requires at least one of the following criteria: NMTEACH overall rating of Effective or above; 60% of the total possible points for Domains 2 & 3 and Domains 1 & 4; or APS Summative indicating meets competencies.
  3. Completed mentorship

Process:

  • Submit your Professional development dossier (PDD) up to three months in advance of the completion of three school years of teaching experience. Submission dates: July 15 to March 31. Additional information: Dossier Process for Teachers
Eligibility for pay increase is based on effective dates of license. To receive pay increase for current year the dossier must be submitted to NMPED no later than October 15. If dossier passed - license will be issued beginning current year and pay increase will be processed for current year.  Submission after October 15 or dossier submitted by October 15 but not passed until resubmission will generate license effective following year and no pay increase will be processed for current year.

Advancement From Level 1 to Level 2 without DOSSIER

Advancement Based on Student Achievement. Submission dates: October 1 to May 15.

Requirements:

  1. Three school years teaching experience at Level 1 by June of current school year.
  2. Effective or above with 50% or more of the possible student achievement points (35/70) on most recent NMTEACH Summative Report. Prior year NMTEACH Summative may be used from October 1 through May 15.
  3. Two additional successful evaluations. Successful evaluation requires at least one of the following criteria: NMTEACH overall rating of Effective or above; 60% of the total possible points for Domains 2 & 3 and Domains 1 & 4; or APS Summative indicating meets competencies.
  4. Completed mentorship

Process:

Eligibility for pay increase is based on effective dates of license. To receive pay increase for current year - advancement without dossier application must be submitted to NMPED no later than October 15. If requirements are met license will be issued beginning current year and pay increase will be processed for current year.  Submission after October 15 generates a license effective the following year and no pay increase will be processed for the current year.

Advancement from Level 1 to Level 2 without Dossier - Based on NBCT

Requirements:

  1. Three school years teaching experience at Level 1 by June of current school year.
  2. Three successful annual evaluations at current licensure level including most recent evaluation. Successful evaluation requires at least one of the following criteria: NMTEACH overall rating of Effective or above; 60% of the total possible points for Domains 2 & 3 and Domains 1 & 4; or APS Summative indicating meets competencies.
  3. Completed mentorship
  4. Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards

Process:

Eligibility for pay increase is based on effective dates of license. To receive pay increase for current year advancement without dossier application must be submitted to NMPED no later than October 15. If requirements are met license will be issued beginning current year and pay increase will be processed for current year.  Submission after October 15 generates a license effective the following year and no pay increase will be processed for the current year.
