Budget Calendar

  • January/March: NM Legislature meets to decide how much money will be provided for public education.
  • March: APS Budget Department works on a proposed operational budget for the district based on state and other funding.
  • March/April: Departments and schools work on their budgets based on parameters set by the Budget Department.
  • April: Adjustments are made to budget projections.
  • Mid May: Proposed budget presented to APS Board of Education Finance Committee.
  • Late May: Proposed budget presented for approval to the Board of Education. Budget then submitted to the
  • New Mexico Public Education Department.
  • Mid-June: Budget presentation to the Public Education Department.
  • July 1: Budget goes into effect.
