Budget Calendar

January/March: NM Legislature meets to decide how much money will be provided for public education.

March: APS Budget Department works on a proposed operational budget for the district based on state and other funding.

March/April: Departments and schools work on their budgets based on parameters set by the Budget Department.

April: Adjustments are made to budget projections.

Early May: Proposed budget presented to APS leadership team.

Mid-May: Proposed budget presented to APS Board of Education Finance Committee.

Early June: Proposed budget presented for approval to the Board of Education. Budget then submitted to the New Mexico Public Education Department.

Mid-June: Budget presentation to the Public Education Department.

July 1: Budget goes into effect.
